Heritage Bank recounting its journey in the Nigerian financial industry disclosed that the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was introduced into Nigeria market in 1989. As a matter of fact, the very first ATM in Nigeria was first installed by National Cash Registers (NCR) for the defunct Société Générale Bank of Nigeria in 1989.
According to the bank, “Fast forward 23 years, Heritage Bank Nigeria PLC acquired the license of the SGBN thereby making us the first bank to officially launch the ATM in Nigeria.
“Now, with over 130 Experience Centers (branches) and 65 Automated Banking Centers (ABC) all across the country, we are poised to keep serving you and living out our Nigerian heritage.”
