Speaker of the National House of Representatives, Hon. Dogara Yakubu, has proven to the people of Bauchi state that he is ready to extend his hand of leadership towards them to ensure that everyone in no little amount is able to cater for themselves.
Dogora recently got the prayers of his people after he successfully organised an empowerment programme for 526 youths and women drawn from all LGAs in Bauchi state.
The empowerment programme saw the beneficiaries being taught various skills and advices on how they can manage their various businesses to a maximum level especially on the agriculture value chain.
According to the speaker, “The most important natural endowment of all is human capital. A lot has been said about entrepreneurship and creating jobs and as leaders, we must give our people the push they need to actualise their potential. In line with this, I organised an empowerment programme for 526 youths and women drawn from all LGAs in Bauchi state, during which they were equipped with the required knowledge and skills which would enable them set up and sustain businesses focused on different aspects of the agric value chain.
“The real profit in agriculture is to be made not from selling farm produce in its raw state, but by exploring other areas such as processing and packaging. This has the capacity to create even more jobs and place our people on the path of self-sufficiency. All 526 beneficiaries were presented with certificates and a seed fund of N100,000 each. I have faith that this will have positive ripple effects on their respective families and the economy of Bauchi state.”
