On Saturday, the 16th of June, 2018, TuneAfrique officially launched their digital music streaming platform, TuneAfrique 1.0.

The event took place at Bheerhugz Cafe, Chevron Drive, Lagos, and featured keynote speakers such as Mr Demilade Olaosun an Entertainment Lawyer, Global Lead at TuneAfrique, Dr Olakunle Oladehin and TuneAfrique Chief Digital Information Officer, Oyenekan Ayodeji.

Keynote speakers weighed in on the digital media distribution space as it concerns music; from the evolution of music distribution to the different music distribution models.

The speakers also highlighted the necessity of a platform such as TuneAfrique, and detailed some of its benefits including access to free UPC and ISRC codes to track all songs around the world, uploading the right music format, a dashboard to track various analytics, charts, ability to control territories & digital streaming partners and partner’s platforms where songs can be downloaded and streamed around the world, and making payments in local currencies for Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

TuneAfrique is well on its way to causing a long-overdue shift in the way digital distribution is carried in Nigeria, and the launch is just the first of many to come.
