The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (EVC, NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta, this recently received a delegation of top management of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc that came to explore ways to revive earlier business collaboration between the two agencies.
Abbas Masanawa, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of NSPM company, who led the delegation, stated that the purpose of the visit, which is long overdue, is to commend NCC for its obvious strides in regulating the country’s telecommunication sector in line with world-class standard. Mr. Masanawa emphasised the imperative for the two agencies to forge a stronger business partnership that is sustainable and mutually beneficial.
Prof. Danbatta while responding, thanked the CEO of NSPM company (now a public limited concern) for the visit and noted that as the government agency entrusted with the production of the country’s currency and other security documents, the NSPM company is better placed to do far better production of printed items and associated tasks for the NCC than any other entity that operates in the printing sector.
The EVC stated that the Commission will have no reservation in entrusting sensitive materials to NSPM Company to handle for it because of the confidence NCC has in the ability of the Company to execute such tasks diligently. Danbatta expressed readiness to work towards the actualization of the proposed partnership.
“Reviving the collaboration with the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting company is consistent with item 5 of the Commission’s 8-Point Agenda which speaks to exploring strategic collaboration and partnership with our numerous stakeholders, particularly agencies of government, and we believe that with what has transpired today we are now poised to take the relationship to a new level” the EVC stated.
The Director of Public Affairs, Nnamdi Nwokike, who gave the closing remark, thanked the delegation for the visit. He said the NCC considers the visit as significant and fruitful, and therefore looks forward very enthusiastically to the collaboration.
