Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, was recently a guest at popular TV programme, SUNRISE DAILY, on Channels Television and he spoke extensively on the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China.
The China Nigeria business relationship has not been welcomed in some quarters has some Nigerians have been talking and criticizing the move by the federal government as they stated that the move is throwing the country into more depths.
Okechukwu stated that the signed deals between the country and China will further industrialization and create jobs for our people.
He stressed that even while considering the economic growth of the country, there is need to pay attention to the relationship so the country do not end up running at loss.
According to him, “There is mutuality of interest in the China-Africa relationship. We have things that could be useful to each other. Of course we need to be careful and attentive as with any relationship. The deals we signed in China would further industrialization and create jobs for our people”
On what his team are doing differently, he stated that the commitment towards implementation has been a huge success and all thanks to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration who have made this possible.
On why things are going to be different this time: “I haven’t seen the degree of commitment to implementation as we have seen in this govt. The commitment of Pres. Muhammadu Buhari is to fix our infrastructure needs.”
On the implications of Huawei, a Chinese company, handling a communications infrastructure in Nigeria: “Huawei is a world class company. We need world class players who will bring world class infrastructure to help our people. But of course we have to handle things with care.”
