The president of All Nigerian Youths Reoriented Initiatives (ANYRI) and pioneer initiator of ‘New Nigeria’, Comrade Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to start the electoral processing as early as possible so that many Nigerians would not be denied of the 2023 electoral participation.
Ajadi advised the chairman on early preparation yesterday, Monday 2nd November after he had addressed some gathering of youths at Ibadan, Oyo State, advising them to exhibit a peaceful and orderly manner while waiting for the implementation of the 5 agenda proposals sent to President Muhammad Buhari as part of their EndSARS agitation.
He said it would be a nice gesture if the chairman of the INEC could maintain his integrity as he had shown in some past electoral processes, especially in the recent ones in Edo and Ondo, adding that Nigerians have trust in him and that he should not fail them in 2023.
He added that the early declaration of the date for the 2023 presidential election, February 18, is a good idea, emphasizing that the earlier is better for the start of the electoral process to achieve a credible and fair election without stress in 2023.
He advised the INEC boss to engage the youths more in the electoral institution, especially those that are computer literates and know security consciousness.
“I would advise the INEC boss to add electronics gadget, camera initiative to his current idea of sending results from ward to ward to INEC central computer-based network because it worked out well in the recent election as it did not allow any form of manipulation,” he said, ” there should be stipulated days for applicants for collection of voters cards; registration process of electorates whose ages are just 18 years should begin immediately as youths are eager to participate in the 2023 political settings.”
