"Maximising New Media For Teaching, Networking and Resourcing" by Lekan Otunfodunrin ED, Media Career Development Network

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos, recently held a seminar for its staff on the need to embrace the new media techniques for effective teaching.

The theme of the event which was held at the school premises, “Maximising New Media For Teaching, Networking and Resourcing” saw Mr Lekan Otunfodunrin, ED, Media Career Development Network, ensuring that he pointed out the essentials for good journalism practice.

Otufodunrin stated that media has moved from just reporting to becoming business as lots of non-journalists are now doing well than those that are well trained in the industry. “The media is evolving and it has gone from the era of reporting to business oriented.”

He pointed out that for journalists and students of Mass Communication to do well, they need to make use of the various social media platforms and make their presence known.

Otufodunrin stressed that things are changing and participating in workshops and learning new techniques will sure add value to both the lecturers and the students helping them prepare to become bosses on their own without having to go around looking for jobs.
