The 2018 edition of the Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show, has taken a new dimension as participating students will need to work hard to be able to write their name in the sand of time.
The brain company behind the Mathematics TV Quiz Show, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, has improved significantly the prize money across the stages of competition for both students and teachers. The national winners’ prize money has been doubled; =N=2,000,000 (Two million naira) with an all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country for the winners in both categories while 1st and 2nd runners up will receive =N=1,500,000 (One million Five hundred thousand naira) and =N=1,000,000 (One Million naira) respectively.
This intervention of Cowbell and more recently through the Cowbellpedia initiative, has provided a platform to identify, nurture and reward excellence in Mathematics.
According to the Managing Director, Mr. Anders Einarsson, recently during a chat with the media on the company’s plan for the New Year, he said, “As part of our contribution to global education investment, Cowbell Our Milk has dedicated the last 2 decades to improving the standard of education in Nigeria with focus on Mathematics which is an important component of STEM and also pivotal for the nation’s technological advancement.”
He further added that, “This platform continues to arouse and re-awaken the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforce the importance of the subject area.”
This time around, the students will not be the only ones that will enjoy the cash benefits alone as their teachers will also be rewarded. “The teachers of the top prize winners will be awarded =N=500,000 (Five hundred thousand naira) while those of the first and second runners-up will receive =N=400,000 (Four hundred thousand) and =N=300,000 (Three hundred thousand naira) respectively.”
Also, with the help of the competition which has seen brilliant students emerged winners, a Cowbellpedia Compendium, will be launched, which is a compilation of solved questions from the past Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show editions for each category to improve proficiency of students in Mathematics.
Mr. Anders also disclosed that in ensuring that great minds are discovered in Nigeria, the company will be starting the Cowbellpedia Academy, a workshop for students and teachers in partnership with a top foreign University to expose them to new and up-to-date learning techniques necessary to achieve and improve academic excellence.
